Free Events Around Portland: August 20 - 22
All weekend (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
Columbia Gorge International Film Festival: More than 200 films for your viewing pleasure at the Vancouver Convention Center.
Moliere’s “School for Husbands”: Masque Alfresco presents a modern adaptation of this play every weekend through August. This weekend they will perform at Beaverton Library Lawn, 6:30 pm.
Saturday, August 21
RiverFest River Fair: Learn all about the Willamette River: its history, geological properties, recreational opportunities, and more. Admission to the Oregon Maritime Museum will also be free. Waterfront Park, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Alberta Street Fair: Three stages of music, a kids area, parade, and more. 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. NE Alberta Street will be closed to cars between NE 10th and 30th Avenues.
Multnomah Days: Parade, kids activities (kids zone is four times bigger than last year’s), live music, and vendors. Multnomah Village, 8:30 am to 10:00 pm.
Russian-American Cultural Festival “Soberiha”: Live Russian and American folk music, kids activities, and craft and food vendors. Esther Short Park in Vancouver, 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
BMX Jam: DJ and music, food, prizes and giveaways. Events will include High Air, Best Trick, and a Park Jam. Glenhaven Skatepark, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
Parks Picnic on the Plaza in Gresham: This event includes music, games, and prizes. Bring a picnic, take part in the fun, and learn more about the future of Gresham parks. Center for the Arts Plaza, 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.
Guided bike ride in Gresham: At 10:00 am, meet at Main City Park in the parking lot next to Springwater Trail to take a leisurely bike ride with members of the Bicycle Transportation Alliance.
Knit-Out and Crochet 2010 at the Tigard Library: Demonstrations, free instruction, displays of crocheted and knitted items, and door prizes to participants who drop by to knit or crochet. 11:00 am and 3:00 pm.
Sunday, August 22
Collector Car Show: Classic cars, rods, sport cars, and special interest cars. George Rogers Park in Lake Oswego, 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Classic Boat Show: This in-the-water show will be held at the Lake Oswego Corporation (LOC) Docks from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.
Shakespeare in the Parks: The Portland Actors Ensemble will perform “The Comedy of Errors” at Lynchwood Park at 3:00 pm.
Beaverton Modular Railroad Club: The club will have models set up for viewing and be available to answer questions. Beaverton City Library, 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
